Patpong

Thai Pat pong
Due to requests this is another subject differing from the Thai dating scene but for our Male dating singles why not.
One of the world's most (in)famous red-light districts, Pat pong is where it all started one of the fist place in Thailand to have the go go dancing girls and shows. It was even shown in a James Bond Film in a chase sequence. Between the parallel streets, between Silom and Surawongse Roads is around 100 neon-lit strip bars offering sex shows, purchasable pole-dancers and ladyboys. But while for men Patpong is likely to mean adult shows for women, families and the kids Patpong definitely means 'market'. At night Patpong teems with hawkers and stalls selling what is mostly tourist nick nacks.
For the serious flesh-seekers, Patpong has long since been surpassed as the 'king of the scene' by its counterparts around Sukhumvit the likes of Soi Cowboy. However, its reputation means it's still a huge attraction, mainly for sightseers more interested in looking than touching as there is a large market thats starts at night
In fact, because of the Patpong Night Market the area's seedy edge has been softened considerably. At night the area teems with tourists and backpackers shopping for that so called bargain. Some pretend to look interested in the handbags and clothes available temptation often gets the better of them and they venture inside to witness one of the famous shows they've heard so much about. If you go for this it pays to be careful; while now rare, there have been reports of tourists being ripped off mainly through incorrect over inflated bar bills enjoy yourself but stay alert.
Patpong will never die". This is partly because of its discreet location "Patpong is perfect because it fits the government policy of isolating these areas. In Sukhumvit, it's too visible so that may not last to long as Thailand is working to clean up its image.
Patpong, does gets really bad press. On the one hand it's renowned as the city's center of sin, for being sleazy, tacky, aggressive, a haven for the sex industry but is is still a icon of Thailand for the travellers.
For those not interested in the girly scene or shopping, Patpong also has other pursuits. Aside from the shopping, there's a lot of quality bistros, such as the tiny French restaurant Le Bouchon and the incredibly good value Thai eatery Salasawan, both of which are on Soi 2. Mizu's Kitchen on Soi 1, which a former Japanese soldier started in 1954, comes highly recommended for its steak. For a quiet game of pool and a beer or two there's the Red Parrot and the Vietnam war era bar, The Old Other Office.
Go and have a look despite its reputation it is what you make it and well worth it just to say you have been there as if you tell your story at home it is likely someone will ask you what it is like.
