Hill tribes of Northern Thailand

Hill tribes of Northern Thailand
Asian dating series
The Hill tribe people migrated over a 100 years ago from the southern part of China into Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam and Thailand. They have kept their way of life with little change for over a thousand years.
There are 7 main groups, KAREN, HMONG, YAO, LISU, LAHU, LAWA and AKHA, each has its own distinct culture, religion, language and traditional dress, these people make their homes in the highlands. they support themselves through farming and the occasional tourist visits where the can sell, clothes, decorations and the kids will try to sell you a beetle tied to a stick.
I have been to the Karin tribe,
We left from Chaingmai and drove to the foot of the mountains then walked and rode elephants to the mountain top, spent a couple of nights living in Jungle huts and spent a day with the Karin tribe it was exciting and the view from the mountain tops is awsome.
The tribes are hospitable to visitors although there must be days when they hope no strange farang are going to turn up,they do get a break from visitors as you cannot go up there during the wet season. There are no roads only tracks cut into the bush, the elephant I was riding deliberately walked under low hanging branches I know it was on purpose as whenever she did it and I yelled out she would raise her trunk to acknowledge, all part of the experience.
The Padaung women wear brass rings around their necks. This distorts the growth of their collarbones and makes them look as if they have long necks, this is not the case. This row of brass rings do not actually stretch their necks but in fact compact the vertebrae and collar bones. A woman generally has about twenty or more rings around her neck. This neck ring adornment is started when the girls are 5 or 6 years old, this is a long process that the body grows into,so is not painful although it is not something I would like to try,but they have been doing it for a long long time, they may see us as being strange.
While at Find Love Asia our aim is to have our Western men visit our lovely Asian women members I think to many people who come to Thailand and other Asian countries tend to spend their time in the cities and go home, yes you can still get a feel for Asia that way,but the real magic of Asia is exploring outside of the cities,of course it depends on the length of your stay, but a memorable adventure is worth the effort.
If you have a story of a Asian adventure (guys and gals) I would like to read it,and maybe publish it here,,feel welcome to email it to us.
