Koh Samui is located in the Gulf of Thailand, not far from Surat Thani town. It is surrounded by about sixty other islands which make up the Ang Thong National Marine Park, the other main tourist Isalnds are Ko Pha Ngan, Ko Tao and Ko Nang Yuan.there is great snorkling and scuba diving on these Islands with reefs and colourful variety of marine life
The Island of Koh samui is roughly circular in shape, and is about 15km across. The central part of the island is dense mountain jungle where wild monkeys can be seen,the lowland areas are connected together by a single road, that covers the circumference of the island.
It is great fun to tour the Island on a motorbike which can be hired for a cheap daily rate for as long as you wish and a great way to see the Island while keeping your independence.
Nathon is the main town on Koh Samui I guess it would be the capital as all the admin and govenment offices are there with no shortages of course of Hotels,resturants and Bars.
