Khao San Road is the Backpackers haven along this road(actually the size of a street about 3 blocks long,this and surrounding roads have a lot of quest houses it is only about a block or so away from the Chao Phraya River this river twists through Bangkok and has boats and Ferries running up and down a good way to travel.
In the span of just a couple of blocks, there are bars, food stalls, restaurants,Thai girl bars convenience stores, pharmacies, Internet cafes, money changing booths, ATMs, massage parlors, travel agencies, laundry,Thai Kick boxing gyms,discounted designer clothes such as Diesel, Versace, Gucci and rooms for over night stay.post office is also handy
some places to stay are:
Bella Bella 10 minute walk from Khao San, near the river. Very clean and new with rooms starting at very cheap prices. Internet access, food and beer.
Central Guest House Soi Bowanlungsri, off Khao San Road, Basic rooms, free Internet access, rooms are clean.
Green Guesthouse with prices for rooms starting very low.
K.S. Hous e Guest House. 50+ rooms,Restaurant/cafe with great food set on the roof top. Free Wi-Fi in all rooms and public spaces. 5 minutes walk from Khao San Road.
My House Guest House has clean rooms and good food; singles rooms very cheap.
New Joe Guest House 81 Trokmayom Charakpongse Rd.If you are looking for Discounted Hotels and Accommodation
Has a restaurant/cafe with greatfood. Also offers internet, and a bar at good value for money and very cheap.
New Merry V is a good low budget option. Clean rooms with window.
New Siam Guest House is just enough off the main drag to be quiet.Another great place for Discounted Hotels and Accommodation they advertise having the largest rooms for the price, and they do seem that way. Clean and well maintained with friendly staff and safe boxes in some rooms and lockers downstairs. The restaurant menu is basic and the food none too exciting.
Prakorb's House, 52 Khao San Road.An old guest house with simple but clean rooms.
Rambuttri Village Inn
Siam Oriental Inn, has nice, clean and quiet rooms (both fan and air-con), all with private bathroom, plus a lively restaurant and a quiet Internet cafe and very cheap prices
If you want a quieter area with larger rooms there is places like Ding Dang and Washington Square a long Suhkumvit that have budget accommodation and will follow up on those in the next series
