Find Love Thailand

Find Love Asia
Golden Triangle (southeast Asia)
Hi I have covered a number of areas within the news stories on Thailand such as Bangkok,Phuket and Pattaya I think Chiang Mai deserves a mention,
Chiang Mai in on the edge of the Golden triangle the poppy growing region in the North of Thailand, the golden triangle includes the border areas of Thailand,Laos and Burma.
Before I go into the Basic info on Chiang Mai I will tell you my story of when I was there.
I went there with a friend some years ago,the first days we went to the Tourist spots seen the temples including the snake temple while we are on the snake temple subject I will include a unnerving experience while I was there I had 2 pit vipers placed around my neck they are a evil nasty looking snakes but I assumed they had been de fanged it was later I found out their fangs were just fine,it is the smoke from the incense (so I was told by the locals) that keeps them passive so we went to the door to get photos well the fresh air did wonders for them they were up swaying staring in my face and getting way to personal thinking they were de fanged I would reach up and push them away the temple guy goes "no no not do he bite you incense only make him sleepy", my response was "get these F... things off me" so be aware if going there they can bite so stick with the Python.
Anyway we had been to the temples we had been to the Bars and getting a bit bored when the woman at our Chiang Mai Guest house suggested a 5 day jungle trip into the golden triangle and meet the Karen Tribes so we did it was great.
you start the journey by foot, walking the first day through jungle to a village there are a few tigers in the area and Cobras but we saw neither probably a good thing we saw a handful of monkeys and squirrels so a bit disappointed in the available wild life.
That night we stayed at a real village to me this was Thailand at its best, hut on stilts with pigs and chickens feeding underneath a bamboo mat on the floor I can see the expressions on the faces of the rest of the group how our aching bodies would cope with that and then before bed a villager turns up with the opium pipe this was some years ago so you may not get the same terrific sleep that we had.
The next morning the Elephants turned up we would travel from that village to another village higher up the mountain on their backs I got to sit on the elephants neck instead of the wooden seat I thought I was onto a good thing as it was not long before I heard moans about sore butts the downside with my position is I was wearing shorts and the hair on a Elephants neck is like wire so I would pull leaves off the trees to put under my legs the Elephant was not having that on and would reach up with its trunk and pull them off the Mahout(Elephant Boss) told her to cut it out which she did so I get to keep the leaves but for the rest of the journey she put me into every low hanging branch on the trail so we both had a good time.
At that village there is a small river where we bathed the next day we would trek to the top of the Mountain to the Karen tribe village it was a interesting village where they make colorful garments the old way and cheeky kids trying to sell you dead bugs on a stick there was a fantastic view from the top of the mountain showing virgin jungles with dense canopies sadly not a lot of that left in Thailand.
